Purple Kirtle

Given my recent joining of the SCA, it's time for me to make a set of garb for when we (ever eventually) begin in-person events again.

This kirtle was patterned based on a toile I made with the help of my husband, and instructions from The Medieval Tailor's Assistant. I started with a lightweight purple wool that I found at my local discount fabric store. The bodice is lined with a sturdy linen. It's primarily machine sewn with polyester thread, but the neckline and sleeve edges are hand finished. The eyelets are hand sewn as well, in poly thread. I'm still looking for a better cord to lace with. I had a lot of fun photographing this in my backyard!
